The UKIE released a paper detailing the priorities of the UK video games industry when it came to the UK’s negotiations over leaving the EU. Within the paper were a number of statistics that show the strain that the vote to leave the EU, and the ongoing uncertainty that stemmed from it, has placed upon the games industry itself. Perhaps the most striking of the lot is the fact that 40% of all businesses are considering relocating part of all of their business to outside of the UK, with 23% of those companies having been already approached by other places....

Russian parliament, or Duma, voted on Tuesday to recognize the breakaway republics in the Donbass region, where troops have been fighting Kyiv-led forces since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. But how much territory in the breakaway republics Russia will recognize as independent is a key factor in whether war will break out as the Luhansk and Donetsk regions are about one-third controlled by the separatists. Ahead of the Duma vote came conflicting messages from other Russian political figures....

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday pleaded with Ukrainians to limit their energy consumption as the country’s power infrastructure is restored. Zelensky also met with other top officials to plan for how to make it through the “heating season” as Russia is expected to continue bombarding cities across Ukraine. Zelensky reported Wednesday in his daily address that Ukrainian forces had shot down 233 Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones and dozens of missiles launched by Russia since the beginning of October....

“There’s no doubt about that,” Herbst told Newsweek when pressed on whether he agrees with U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan’s assessment that Russia has failed to achieve its key goals in Ukraine. Sullivan said at a press conference on Tuesday that Russia has “manifestly failed” in achieving its three major goals in Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. These goals are subjugating Ukraine, enhancing Russian power and prestige, and dividing and weakening the West, Sullivan told reporters....

Roman Gribov was one of several soldiers initially reported to be dead from ensuing attacks on the island, but it was later discovered that he and other soldiers from the island had been captured. They were later part of the first exchange of captured soldiers between Ukraine and Russia, according to the Ukrainian Parliament. Gribov was returned to his home region of Cherkasy and given a medal for his service on Tuesday, according to The Odessa Journal....

Media outlet NB tweeted the 30-second clip which shows what appears to be a man risking his life by standing in front of the vehicles as they pass by. “Ukrainian rushes under enemy equipment so that the occupiers do not pass,” NB wrote alongside the video. The clip spurred many others to compare it to another historical act of rebellion. “Amazingly brave Ukrainian tries to stop a Russian military convoy by blocking the vehicles with his body just like the ‘Tank Man’ in Tiananmen Square,” tweeted journalist Henry Langston....

Three “Tochka” tactical ballistic missiles were fired from mobile missile launch systems deployed in a field somewhere in Ukraine, from what can be seen on the footage. It is unclear where exactly in Ukraine the images were filmed but the footage was obtained from the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who said that it shows the “launch of three ‘Tochka’ OTRs [tactical ballistic missiles] at the positions of orcs and ammunition depots....

Harzan’s arrest was publicized Tuesday on the Facebook page of the Huntington Beach Police Department. In its post, the HBPD announced the recent arrests of Harzan and another man, both for allegedly “targeting minor females online.” Harzan was arrested as part of ongoing enforcement efforts described to Newsweek by a HBPD public information officer. “The suspect solicited the minor to meet for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity, and when the suspect agreed to meet the supposed minor, detectives were there to take him into custody,” the HBPD said in the Facebook post....

“We are urgently investigating an incident on a vessel off the UAE coast,” an FCDO spokesperson told Newsweek. The comment came after the Defense Ministry’s U.K. Maritime Trade Operations reported on Tuesday that “an Incident is currently underway” 61 nautical miles east of the UAE’s Fujairah coast. The incident was described as “non-piracy” and then also classified as a “potential hijacking” by the monitor. Meanwhile, other independent maritime trackers began to show that a number of vessels in the vicinity of the incident were reporting “Not under command,” meaning the crew was unable to maneuver as needed, often due to an exceptional circumstance....
