The “Troubles” refers to three decades of deadly conflict between U.K. soldiers and Irish republican and British loyalist forces when over 3,500 people died. The mass violence ended in 1998 with the Good Friday peace accord. The statute of limitations will be introduced by the U.K. government to end prosecutions for alleged crimes committed by those on all sides of the conflict. “We know that the prospect of the end of criminal prosecutions will be difficult for some to accept, and this is not a position we take lightly,” Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis told lawmakers in the House of Commons....

The State Border Service of Ukraine announced Friday that officials had awarded “pensioner” Valeriy Fedorovych with a medal “for assistance in the protection of the state border.” Officials said that in March, when Russian President Vladimir Putin’s troops continuously bombarded Chernihiv, a hard-hit city in northern Ukraine, Fedorovych “took his rifle and opened fire.” “Heroes among us,” officials said, adding that after Fedorovych fired at the jet with his rifle, “the enemy fighter Su-34 was targeted and destroyed....

The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry issued a report Tuesday detailing an instance in which commanders of one of the batteries of Russia’s 933rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment allegedly removed and attempted to sell control units from Tor-M2U combat vehicles. Though the report did not include any information that could personally identify the commanders, the directorate did include an extensive list of captains, lieutenant colonels, majors and other officers who were part of the 933rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division operating in the Donetsk region....

The poll was reportedly conducted by Russia’s Federal Protection Service (FSO) on behalf of the Kremlin. Its results found that only 25 percent of Russians polled for the survey said they want the war to continue, down from 57 percent who said the same for internal polls conducted in July. Fifty-five percent of respondents in November said they are “in favor of peace talks,” compared with 32 percent in July....
