Rockhold last fought this past July against Jan Błachowicz in his Light Heavyweight debut and suffered a devastating knockout loss.
Rockhold openly admitted to having lost his passion to fight but didn’t close the door on a return just yet. When speaking to Submission Radio, Rockhold was asked about the man he beat to become Champion - Chris Weidman - and the idea of a rematch against him.
The two were supposed to have a rematch at UFC 199 but Weidman pulled out of the fight, after which Rockhold famously got knocked out by longtime journeyman Michael Bisping. On the second occasion, they were supposed to meet at UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden, but on that occasion, it was Rockhold who pulled out with an injury.
The former Champion wished Weidman the best but said that he was not interested in a rematch.
He also explained that he’s enjoying his break and immersing himself in non-UFC ventures:
We wish both Rockhold and Weidman nothing but the best. It seems as though both men’s careers are slowly winding down and if so, they’ll have a great legacy to be remembered by.
