The successful launch in the UK for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End should prove to not only be good news for Naughty Dog, but also for fans of the game, as the influx of revenue for the studio will certainly allow developers to make and polish more sumptuous materials for the game’s forthcoming DLC. Not to mention, Uncharted 4’s triumphant premiere should offset some of the costs used for the game’s promotion, as every single bit of advertising for the release combined ended up creating Sony’s largest marketing campaign to date.

Of course, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End had some pretty stiff competition on the UK charts, as the gory reboot of the first-person shooter DOOM trailed closely behind the Naughty Dog release, with the id Software-developed title coming in second place. Fans can get a gander at the full rundown of the chart’s top ten titles below.

Undoubtedly, Uncharted 4’s sales were goosed by loads of hype surrounding its release, including the all of the near-perfect scores from reviews. As a matter of fact, the anticipation for the game’s launch was so strong that it went on to receive applause from several different companies within the industry outside of Sony and Naughty Dog. For instance, Xbox boss Phil Spencer congratulated Sony President Shuhei Yoshida for the title’s success on the PS4.

In any event, it will be interesting to see whether or not Uncharted 4 will be able to keep its foothold on the charts in the coming weeks. With Naughty Dog’s title only being available on the PlayStation 4, other multi-platform games such as DOOM or Blizzard Entertainment’s forthcoming Overwatch could usurp the throne from Nathan Drake.
